Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Mandeveli, Guindy, R.A Puram, Muthialpet, Santhome, Nandanam, Cooks Road, Moovarasampet and V.O.C. Nagar from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday due to maintenance work. Supply would be resumed before 5 p.m. if work is completed, said a release from TNEB.

Concession to phone users

Customers whose landlines have been disconnected for non-payment of dues can now have their lines reconnected without payment of the intervening rental. This scheme is also applicable to WLL telephones, STD, PCOs and local PCOs, according to a release from Chennai Telephones

Yoga course

Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai will conduct a yoga course for men and women at Vivekanandar Illam, Kamarajar Salai, Chennai - 5 from 9th April 2006 to 6th June 2006. The course will include basic yogasanas, pranayama, etc. For details, call 28446188 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Indian Red Cross blood donation camp

The Indian Red Cross Society blood bank conducted a blood donation camp on 23rd March at the Institute of Advanced Study in Education, Saidapet. The camp was coordinated by V.Chandrasekaran, lecturer, Institute of Advanced Study in Education.

School anniversary

The 39th anniversary of Sri Venkateswara Hindu Colony Middle School, Nangallur was held at the Vinaykar Pravachana Mandapam on March 29.

S.Paramivam, retired director of School Education presided over the function and distributed prizes to students.

Public relations campaign

The Department of Communication, Women's Christian College, is organising a public relations campaign `Reflections'. Media students have chosen the subject `Media Ethics,' for the campaign.

The campaign, which began on Wednesday, will continue on Thursday and on April 5.

Free eye camp

The Hindu Mission Hospital conducted the Kannappar free eye camp at Sadanandapuram on Wednesday.

One ophthalmologist and one refractionist attended the camp.

125 patients were screened and 46 persons were referred for free IOL surgery.
