CBSE withdraws decision

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has withdrawn its decision to make it mandatory for all affiliated schools to provide free education to every single girl child of a family from Class VI .

Sources said the CBSE took the decision after the Union Human Resource Ministry obtained legal opinion in the wake of fierce opposition from private school managements.

The managements of about 3,000 affiliated schools were earlier asked to implement the October 18, 2005 order with effect from April this year. — PTI
