House burgled, jewellery stolen

CHENNAI: One more case of `bureau pulling' was reported on Sunday in Chitlapakkam police in which jewellery weighing 15 sovereigns was stolen from the house of a bank officer. Police said thieves rifled the bureau in the house of R.Manivannan (47), an officer of a nationalised bank, located on Veerapandiyan Street in Thirumurugan Nagar, Chitlapakkam. The incident took place late on Saturday.

In another incident, thieves broke open into a house in Irumbuliyur and took away jewellery weighing seven sovereigns. Police said the resident, Josephine (53), had gone to her relative's house on Saturday night, and when she returned home on Sunday morning she found the house broken open and jewellery stolen.
