VIJAYAWADA: B. Prakash and Chittaranjan of Shop Employees Union took the first and second places in the 100m race in the two-day games and sports competitions organised by the Labour department here on Saturday. In the volleyball event, Madras Cements Limited, Jayanthipuram, outplayed Shop Employees Union to emerge as winner, while in kabaddi, Vijayawada Thermal Power Station defeated Ushodaya Enterprises, Poranki, to win the title. In ball badminton, Shop Employees Union team finished winner. In the 50m race for women, Ushodaya Enterprises athletes V. Lakshmi and K.P Lakshmi took the first two slots. All the winners were asked by the department to assemble at C. R. Reddy College grounds to participate in the zonal competitions on March 22 at 7. 30 a.m. — Sport Reporter
