Advani's yatra

The proposed rath yatra by BJP leader L.K. Advani is a move to capitalise on the Varanasi blasts. In fact, such moves are exactly what the terrorists and their mentors want. Their intention is to create divisions among the people on religious lines. Mr. Advani would be playing into their hands for the sake of a few votes.

Mr. Advani should introspect before he embarks on his rath yatra. When he expressed regret for the demolition of the Babri Masjid during his visit to Pakistan, one thought he was at last moving towards being secular. By insisting on taking out a yatra now, he is giving the impression that his regret was insincere. Such acts of fanaticism play havoc and upset the lives of the common people who are in no way concerned with terrorism. In the larger interest of the nation, Mr. Advani should give up the proposal.
