Rain lashes parts of city

Staff reporter

LAUGHING IN THE RAIN: Friends share an umbrella to keep away the showers at Mogappair on Saturday.

Chennai: Sharp showers lashed some parts of the city on Saturday. Weather officials attributed it to a local thunderstorm activity.

T. Nagar, Anna Nagar, Villivakkam, Virugambakkam and Koyambedu were some of the areas that received a moderate downpour. The sky remained overcast for most part of the day. With temperatures shooting up to 33 degree Celsius in the last few days, the rains brought relief to Chennaiites.

Both Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam received 0.4 mm rainfall between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m.
