The event would enable them to take up issues concerning women

CHENNAI:
Leaders of Zonta International, an organisation for business and professional women, met here for a two-day conference over the weekend to "share success stories of women." Members of the clubs of District 25, which includes India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, have been involved in tsunami rehabilitation, running shelter homes and livelihood-restoration projects.
The outgoing District Governor, Dilruba Ahmed, said that the event would foster understanding among clubs and enable them to collectively take up issues concerning women as discussed in the Zonta International's eighth biennial conference held last year. Kalpana Shanmugam, president of the Madras Zonta Club, said that the club had been involved in reconstructing balwadis in Srinivasapuram with financial assistance.
Club presidents from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh talked about various projects.
