ESIC introduces welfare scheme

CHENNAI:
For the welfare of insured persons under Employees State Insurance Corporation, who lose their jobs due to retrenchment, closure of factory or disability arising out of non-industrial accidents, the corporation has introduced a scheme, "Rajiv Gandhi Shramik Kalyan Yojana".
Eligible workers will be paid approximately 50 per cent of their last drawn salary and the benefit will be available for six months. One condition for eligibility is that the worker should be a member of the ESIC scheme and should have contributed for not less than five years.
