Bird flu, what's that?

Bird flu or no bird flu. When chicken comes for free, takers are plenty. The flu-struck poultry industry in the twin cities understood that with quite a pinch of chicken masala here this week when it organised a `Chicken and Egg Mela' to dispel fears among the public over the avian influenza. Though poultry stores and cold storages continued to reel under the absence of buyers, the notion of the public chickening away from chicken seemed to go for a six if the appalling jostle for a bite at the mela was any indication. More shocking was the fact that the organisers were manhandled when they ran out of stock.
