Fire at Air Force radar station

Thiruvananthapuram: Five fire force units from the city - two each from Chengalchoola and Vizhinjam and one from Chakka - were pressed into service to control a major fire at Mookkunnimala within the premises of the Air Force radar station on the Malayinkeezh route at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The fire force units and the disaster assessment team had not returned even by midnight. Initial reports indicated that there was no loss of life, Fire Force officials said. — Staff Reporter

Photography contest

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Joshi Manjummel has won the first prize in the photography competition conducted by the SBT Staff Recreation Club. The second prize went to Aarchal Saji and the third prize to K.S. Sajan. The distribution of the prizes and an exhibition of the photographs will be held in the middle of March. — Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: Fish workers led by Kerala Swathanthra Matsyathozhilali Federation marched to the Secretariat on Tuesday demanding that the Government call an immediate meeting of experts and fisheries officials to discuss the scarcity of fish that is being experienced after the tsunami. — Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: The founder principal of Kozhikode Law College and legal scholar M. Krishnan Nair died here on Tuesday morning. He was 76. — Staff Reporter
