CPI to take out rally

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI will take out a rally in the city on Wednesday in connection with the conclusion of the Janakeeya Yatra led by K.E. Ismail. The rally, which will start from the Public Library at 4 p.m., will conclude at the Putharikandam Maidan where CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta, MP, will address the gathering. — Staff Reporter

Fish workers' march

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fish workers led by the Kerala Swathanthra Matsya Thozhilali Federation will march to the Secretariat on Tuesday seeking a comprehensive study on the environmental impact of the tsunami on the sea, deposition of artificial reefs in the sea for fish breeding and inclusion of all fish workers in the BPL category. — Staff Reporter

Worksop for teachers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A one-day orientation workshop for nearly 150 teachers in charge of eco clubs in select schools under the National Green Corps was conducted by the World Wide Fund for Nature-India here on Monday. L. Radhakrishnan, secretary, Forests, inaugurated the workshop. — Staff Reporter

Jury appointed

Thiruvananthapuram: The jury for the State Television awards 2005 has been appointed. Vijayakrishnan will chair the fiction jury, Harikumar the non-fiction jury, and George Onakkoor will chair the scripting division jury. — Staff Reporter

Regional holiday

Thiruvananthapuram: The District Collector has declared a holiday on March 25 for all Government offices and schools in Malayinkeezh, Vilavoorkal, Vilappil and Maranellore grama panchayats on account of the festival at Malayinkeezh Sri Krishnaswami temple. There will be no change in the examinations scheduled for the day. — Staff Reporter

Ombudsman to hold sittings

Thiruvananthapuram: The Ombudsman for Local-Self Government Institutions will conduct camp sittings from Wednesday to Saturday at the office at Barton Hill. Complaints will be directly received from the public on these days. — Staff Reporter
