Thiruvananthapuram: K. Muraleedharan has been unanimously elected president of the Democratic Indira Congress-Karunakaran (DIC-K) at the conclusion of the party's organisational elections on Wednesday. Though the election was a mere formality, the DIC(K) went through the process of organisational elections. The party preferred to follow this route in setting up its parliamentary board. K. Karunakaran will be the chairman of the parliamentary board, which will finalise the list of candidates for the Assembly elections. K. Muraleedharan and T.M. Jacob will be ex-officio members in their respective capacities as leaders of the party and the legislature party. The other members are M.P. Gangadharan, M.K. Latheef, D. Sugathan and Radha Raghavan. Announcing the election results, the DIC(K) election authority. K.R. Kurup, Babu Vijayanath and Joseph Mundassery. said that Mr. Muraleedharan had been elected unopposed. The DIC(K) also elected M.A. John, Johnny Nellore, P. Sankaran and Kozhivilla Ramachandran vice-presidents, while Kodoth Govindan Nair would continue as treasurer. The party has also announced a 29-member central committee. Mr. Muraleedharan also announced the names of K.P. Kunhikannan, N. Venugopal, N. Peethambara Kurup, Shobana George, M.T. Padma, Jose Kattukaran, Mallipuram Bhaskaran, N.D. Appachan, Chithira Madhu, M.A. Chandrasekharan, Oommen Mathew, C.N. Somarajan, C. Mohanan Pillai, M.K. Abdul Salam, and G. Mukundhan Pillai as general secretaries. The organisational elections, including that of the president, were held in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
