BANGALORE: BHS FG College beat host PES `A' by three runs in a thriller while Presidency College defeated Kristu Jayanti College by one-wicket, in the semifinals of the PES College cricket tournament on Thursday. The scores: BHS First Grade College 191 for nine in 25 overs (Nelson Pinto 45) bt PES `A' 188 for nine in 25overs (Nishant Chugh 67, Rakesh 54). Kristu Jayanti College 167 for 9 (Sagar 51) lost to Presidency College 171 for 9.
Body building championship
Ravi' s Gymnasium, Nagarbhavi, will conduct an all-India invitational body building championship for the " Mr Ravi's Classic 2006" title on March 11th at Ravi's Gym from 2.00 pm onwards for challengers across the country affiliated to the National Amateur Body Building Federation. Competitors may send their entry forms along with a fee of Rs. 100 per competitor.
AMCHAM invitation golf
The American Chamber of Commerce in India (AMCHAM) invitational golf tournament will be held at the Karnataka Golf Association course here on Saturday. Over 120 participants from leading corporates from all over the county will participate in the event.
SAI posts win
Sports Authority of India (SAI) defeated Royals 2-0 in a George Hoover Cup super-division league match at the Football Stadium here on Wednesday. Naveen Babu scored in the 11th minute and B. Prakash scored in the 25th minute to help SAI finish its league engagements with 17 points from nine matches. Meanwhile Royals has 10 points from eight matches. In another match, Sampath's 17th minute strike helped KSP beat BEL. KSP has nine points from eight matches while BEL finished its league outings with 13 points from nine matches.
Thilak's century in vain
Thilak Naidu's unbeaten 111 went in vain as State Bank of Mysore (SBM) suffered a four-wicket defeat against Vijaya Bank in the Y.S. Ramaswamy memorial tournament semifinal. SBM scored 287 for seven in 50 overs and Vijaya Bank won off the last ball of the match. The scores (semifinals): SBM 287 for seven in 50 overs (Thilak Naidu 111n.o., Rajesh four for 52) lost to Vijaya Bank 291 for six in 50 overs (Rajesh 92, K.M. Aiyappa 70, B.A. Vinay 61); DTDC SC 122 in 36.1 overs lost to Canara Bank 123 for three in 18.5 overs.
Good outing for Dhiral
Dhiral of HP-GDIC had a good outing in the Ventures corporate table tennis tournament for software companies here over the last weekend, winning both the women's doubles and mixed doubles titles. In the women's doubles final, Dhiral, partnering Lalitha, beat Semone and Shibu of Siemens at 11-3, 11-7, 11-4. In the mixed doubles final, Dhiral and Sharath defeated Nancy and Ravi of Infosys at 11-7, 11-8, 9-11,11-9.
Rapid chess tournament

KSLTA to host two Challengers
The Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association will host two $ 25,000 ATP Challenger events at Chickmaglur and Dharwad respectively in April.
The championship at Chickmaglur is slated to be conducted from April 17 to 23 and the Dharwad event is scheduled from April 24 to 30.
Besides these two major tournaments, the KSLTA would conduct the AITA Talent Series at Mandya (from April 3), Mysore (from April10), Bangalore (April 24) and Super Series at Bangalore (May 1).
Govt. recognition for Special Olympics Bharat
Special Olympics Bharat, a movement dedicated to the betterment of people with intellectual disability through sports training and competition, has been recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India as a National Sports Federation for the mentally challenged in India.
HSBC champion
HSBC emerged champion in the CRY Cadence corporate tournament that concluded here recently. In the final, HSBC defeated Hewlett Packard (HP) by two wickets.

HP 145 in 29.4 overs (Satish 52, M. Vinod four for 15) lost to HSBC 149 for eight in 29.4 overs (Kalidasa 52, Maravalli four for 17).
