Final order in Best Bakery case put off

MUMBAI: Additional Sessions Judge Abhay Thipsay has postponed the final order in the Best Bakery re-trial to February 24. The order in the re-trial was expected on Tuesday.

Seventeen persons have been accused of murder, rioting, unlawful assembly, arson, using deadly weapons, and assault among other charges in the incident in Vadodara on the night of March 1, 2002. Four of the accused are absconding. Earlier, all 21 accused in the case were acquitted by the fast track court in Gujarat on June 27, 2003.

However, after a SLP was filed by the Citizens for Justice and Peace in the Supreme Court, the case was transferred to Mumbai on April 12, 2004.
