Letters to the Editor
Even an elected government has no right to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. How then can a Shariat court in Uttar Pradesh issue a fatwa against the Danish cartoonist who drew the caricature of Prophet Muhammed? And how can Mohammed Yaqoob Quereshi announce a reward for his head? The Centre should intervene lest the issue leads to communal disturbances here.
S. Prakash,
* * * First, a senseless Danish cartoonist draws a caricature. Then a Minister in India commits an equally senseless act by asking for the cartoonist's head. Two wrongs do not make a right.
Satbir Singh Bedi,
* * * The Minister over-reacted to gain political mileage. But the move has obviously boomeranged on him. Today, Mr. Quereshi is guilty of at least two offences incitement to violence and abuse of public office.
Ramesh Kumar Raja,
* * * If no action is taken against Mr. Quereshi for his irresponsible outburst, what difference will be left between India and an Islamic state?
* * *
Time and again, we forget the message and focus on the messenger. Do gods need us humans to protect them and their reputation?
