What's priority for police?

`Jimmy' Diwakar's accident has shaken the city police officers.

Known to be an affable man, Panjagutta Inspector James Diwakar is now battling for his life in Yashoda hospital after a motorcyclist rammed his vehicle into him while he was crossing the road in front of the police station.

Diwakar was on a routine shop closure job when he rushed to Hyderabad Central on learning that a bar was kept open beyond stipulated timings. Was it necessary for the inspector to rush there was the moot point. Officers are agitated over the instructions from police top brass that they should ensure that Hyderabad sleeps by 11 p.m. and they should register more petty cases. The question is being asked now is what are the priorities for the Hyderabad police. Is it getting everything closed by 11 p.m. or imposing fines on motorists for helmet or seat belt violation? What about the unsolved cases or pending property offences?
