NSW Speaker calls on

Chaudhary Prem Singh

NEW DELHI: The Speaker of the Australian Legislative Assembly of New South Wales, John Aquilhna, called on Delhi Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Prem Singh here on Monday.

Mr. Aquilhna informed that the New South Wales Government was imparting education in Indian languages including Hindi, Telugu, Punjabi and Bengali at primary level and people there were showing a lot of interest in these languages.

The visiting Speaker also paid homage at Mahatma Gandhi's statue inside the Assembly premises.

DTC introduces

e-tendering

NEW DELHI: To bring about transparency in its tender process, Delhi Transport Corporation has introduced e-tendering system.

The tendering firmsnow can get their forms downloaded from the websites www.dtc.nic.in/tenders.htm and www.tenderwizard.in/dtc and upload these for bidding. The system will also cut down the tender processing time.

"Saudi Arabia in India"

NEW DELHI: The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) organised "Saudi Arabia in India" exhibition here recently to mark the four-nation Asian tour of the Saudi King.

The Corporation started its business in India in 1983 and has since maintained a consistent and growing presence in the region. India is one of SABIC's strategic markets for chemicals, polymers and fertilizers.

The largest public company in the Middle East, SABIC is one of the world's ten largest petrochemicals manufacturers.

Traders' conference

NEW DELHI: As part of nationwide protests against entry of Foreign Direct Investment in the retail trade, the Confederation of All-India Traders in association with the Federation of Association of Maharashtra has organised a traders' conference here on February 17.

Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani will be the chief guest, while CPI (M) leader Sita Ram Yechury and former Defence Minister George Fernandes will be the other key speakers at the conference.

Water bills

NEW DELHI: All the offices of Joint Director (Revenue) Executive Engineers (Maintenance), Deputy Directors (Enforcement), Zonal Engineers, Zonal Revenue Officers/Additional Revenue Officers of Delhi Jal Board will remain open on all Saturdays and Sundays except gazetted holidays during February and March to enable the consumers to deposit their water bills.

Award for Maithil scholar

NEW DELHI: Prabodh Sahitya Samman, the highest literary award in Maithili language, was conferred on Pandit Govind Jha, eminent scholar and litterateur, here over the weekend for his contribution to Maithili language and literature.
