HYDERABAD: Manasa, 8, died after she fell into a water tank in the cellar of an apartment building at Kushaiguda on Friday. The victim's father Mallesh, working as watchman in the building, left for Warangal along with his wife in the morning to attend a relative's funeral leaving his two daughters - Manasa and Sravani, 6, at home. While first floor on the complex was leased out to shops, the third and second floors were meant for residential purpose.
"It is learnt that Manasa was playing on the water tank around 4 p.m. along with another girl Anitha and fell into the tank," Kushaiguda Sub-Inspector S. Lingaiah said. The 6.5-feet high tank was partly covered with a lid.
Cameras stolen
Thieves took away cameras and mobile phones worth over Rs. 4.5 lakhs from a shop on PG Road in Secunderabad in the early hours of Friday. Police were baffled as to how the miscreants managed to sneak into the Photo Future shop since all locks of the shutter remained intact.
Shop owners - Santosh Kumar and Pramod Kumar - told police that their employees were working in till 2 a.m. and left after locking the shop. CLUES team was called in. Chance fingerprints were collected from the shop.
