Letters to the Editor
This refers to India's vote in favour of the P5-EU resolution at the IAEA for referring the Iran nuclear issue to the Security Council. It is certainly not in India's interest to have a nuclear power in its neighbourhood. India, no doubt, should resist any attempt to twist the Iran vote into an opportunity to wage war. But the argument that it should have voted against the resolution is unacceptable. Fundamentalism cannot be an alternative to imperialism.
Rajan Jha,
C. Vidhyasagar,
All the existing nuclear powers should set an example by beginning the process of getting rid of nuclear weapons. Such an example would be more meaningful to humankind than referring Iran's nuclear adventure to the U.N. Security Council.
