BANGALORE: Eight vehicles were damaged in a fire that broke out near a garage in Shivajinagar police station limits on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Bijay Kumar Singh said a heap of garbage, containing rubber and garage waste, caught fire probably after some one threw a cigarette or bidi stub into it. The fire spread to the vehicles parked near the garage situated behind the Police Quarters. A multi-utility vehicle, three autorickshaws and four goods vehicles were damaged. Three fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the fire, the police said. The Shivajinagar police have registered a case.
Articles gutted
Household articles were damaged in a fire that broke out in a lorry, in which the articles were being transported from Erode in Tamil Nadu to Nagarbhavi here. The police said A.P. Mani was shifting his household articles in a lorry. Fire broke out in the lorry near Nanda cinema in Jayanagar police station limits. The fire is suspected to have been caused by petrol leak from a motorcycle that was being transported in the lorry, the police said. Three fire tenders put out the fire. The lorry was also damaged. The Jayanagar police have registered a case.
