HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will set up a Special Economic Zone for IT units at Poppalguda making it the first urban body in the country to have its own SEZ. This decision was taken by the HUDA board that met here on Tuesday. The Board meeting reviewed several issues including the Relief and Rehabilitation of various categories of people affected by the land acquisition for Outer Ring Road (ORR) Project. It decided to constitute a committee with Ranga Reddy Collector, HUDA Vice-Chairman, ORR Project Director and others to recommend to the Government on relief and rehabilitation.
Auction of plots
The HUDA Vice-chairman Jayesh Ranjan said that the board had permitted HUDA to raise Rs.500 crore bank loan for the first phase of ORR project. While the auction of 369 plots in Chitra layout, Saroornagar, Nallaganda, Miyapur, Nandagiri Hills etc., scheduled for February was expected to yield Rs. 200 crores, another of auction of HUDA layouts/plots in Shamshabad, Sahebnagar, Miyapur and four locations in Medak would be held in March raising another Rs. 200 crore. The amount from auctions would go for ORR land acquisition. The Board would not recommend any more changes in ORR second phase alignment, Chairman Sudheer Reddy said. The concerns raised would be addressed through suitable R&R.
Global tenders
The Special Purpose Vehicle comprising HUDA, INCAP and Hyderabad Growth Corridor Ltd., had invited pre-qualification global tenders for the first phase and work may start by April. The HUDA would auction five acres of land near KBR Park close to checkpost, after leaving part of it for walkway by February-end, Mr. Reddy said. The HUDA would construct four new commercial complexes - two in Saroornagar, one each in Ameerpet and Cyberabad and pilot the construction of Elevated Expressway connecting International Airport from city side. The HUDA would also lay three to four roads in some more areas of Cyberabad. The Board resolved to complete work on Master Plan by September this year.
