Probe ordered into tribal woman's custodial death

HYDERABAD: The Government on Tuesday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of a tribal woman Nanavath Bujji. The woman died under suspicious circumstances reportedly after Saroornagar excise officials picked up her on charge of selling illicitly distilled liquor a day before Sankranthi festival.

Ranga Reddy District Revenue Officer (DRO) B. Surya Rao will inquire into lapses if any on part of the officials leading to her death, a press release said.

Any person or official knowing facts about the woman's death can depose evidence before the DRO or give representation to him on February 7 from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Saroornagar Mandal Revenue Office.
