CHENNAI : An overwhelming public response to an array of projects showcased by builders, offers from leading housing finance companies and a range of home accessories marked Living Spaces-2006 property fair that concluded here on Monday. Streams of visitors thronged the stalls from Friday to Monday at the The Hindu Property Plus fair at the YMCA Grounds in Royapettah. On offer were projects promoted and developed by 25 Chennai builders and housing finance schemes of at least 12 HFCs. Some properties in Bangalore were also sought to be promoted here. People behind the event estimated that the three-and-a-half day fair to have received about 25,000 visitors. What appealed to the participating builders was the "serious crowd" that came in. While some participants were able to finalise deals, others took customers for site visits. An indication of the visitors' interest was visible from the number of on-the-spot approvals, worth several crores of rupees. The fair provided builders and HFCs with a large database of potential customers and work ahead in terms of converting the enquiries into purchase deals and loan agreements. The accessories stalls, featuring a range of goods and items from modular kitchens to cooking ranges, kitchen equipment, paints, floorings, electrical and bathroom fittings, were a big hit. Many did brisk business and on-the-spot bookings was very good, said representatives at a few of the stalls.
