Dog show begins

Pedigree pets take part in obedience test

CHENNAI: The Madras Canine Club's 68th and 69th Championship dog show began at the University Union Ground at Chetpet on Saturday.

C.V. Sudarsan, secretary of the Club, said this year's attraction was the German Shepherd Club of India's Seiger Show.

Herr Hans Peter, a canine judge from Germany, selected the best among the contestants in the event held in the forenoon.

In the afternoon, the Dobermann Pinscher Speciality National show was held, which was judged by Ekarat Sangkunakupfrom Thailand.

Obedience test was conducted in which pedigree pets participated in large numbers.

Canines from the State and City police dog squad and the Railway Protection Force dog squad took part.

All-breeds show

On the second day on Sunday, the all-breeds show would begin at 8.30 a.m. . Kikuhiko Kashiwagi from Japan, Ekarat Sangkunakup and Ms. Jackie Perry, both from Thailand, would be the judges.

C. Sylendra Babu, Joint Commissioner of Police, South, would distribute the prizes in the evening, Mr. Sudarsan said.
