Jammu:
The Central Government has asked the Jammu and Kashmir Government to put in place an institutional arrangement for proper maintenance and upkeep of the roads constructed under Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The Centre had released Rs.75 crore for these works. But the State Government has utilised only Rs. 43.82 crore and the balance Rs.31.18 crore was lying unspent as on September 30, 2005.
In a communication to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister of Rural Development Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has urged him to put in place an institutional arrangement for the proper maintenance and upkeep of the roads constructed under PMGSY.
