Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: An estimated 3.50 lakh employees and officers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will go on a one-day nationwide strike on January 5 to protest increase in the foreign direct investment in the telecom sector from 49 per cent to 74 per cent; seek Navaratna status for BSNL; and oppose the grant of access to BSNL infrastructure in rural areas to private service providers.

C.K. Mathivanan, circle secretary, National Federation of Telecom Employees, in a press release said the services would be affected on January 5.
