Fatal fall for tourist

ALAPPUZHA: A tourist from Mumbai was killed when he fell from a houseboat anchored near Swami Boat Jetty, Kainakary here on Friday morning.

The Nedumudy police said the deceased, Raju Narayan Desai, had rented the houseboat. According to the police, Mr. Desai, who was sleeping on the front part of the houseboat where the oarsmen sit, might have accidentally fallen into the water. His wife Manasi and children Aditya and Aneesh were sleeping in a room of the houseboat when the mishap occurred, police said. The Alappuzha fire force recovered the body and sent the body for post-mortem.
