Threat calls to Sanjay Joshi being probed
Staff Correspondent
BHOPAL:
The Madhya Pradesh police are investigating anonymous calls and extortion threats received by Sanjay Joshi before he submitted his resignation as Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary.
Director-General of Police Swaraj Puri told The Hindu here on Wednesday that Mr. Joshi had given a complaint stating he had been receiving extortion threats linked to a compact disc. Though no first information report was lodged, investigation was being conducted at the highest police level into Mr. Joshi's complaint, Mr. Puri said.
In the afternoon, Pradesh Congress Committee general secretaries Manak Agrawal and Deepchand Yadav and other leaders sought to have an FIR filed. They alleged that the woman reportedly shown in a compromising position with Mr. Joshi in the CD had gone missing. They demanded that she be traced and Mr. Joshi be arrested on abduction charges.
