SERIES WINNER: Anil Kumble, celebrating the fall of Farveez Maharoof in Ahmedabad on Thursday, authored a memorable climax to his 100th Test. The master leg-spinner finished with five wickets for 89 runs as India beat Sri Lanka by 259 runs to wrap up the series 2-0.

Ahmedabad: India comprehensively defeated Sri Lanka by 259 runs in the third and final Videocon Cup Test at the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium here on Thursday to win the series 2-0. The host, needing four wickets on the final day, took just 30 minutes to wrap things up.

Leg-spinner Anil Kumble, playing in his 100th game, finished with five wickets in the second innings and won the `Man of the Series' award for his 20 wickets. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, with a tally of 10 wickets for 141 in the match, which includes seven in the first innings, was declared the `Man of the Match'. Skipper Virender Sehwag, who stood in for the ill Rahul Dravid, said his experience as leader of the team was "great especially because we won". It was a disappointing end to a tour for the Sri Lankans, who earlier lost the ODI series 1-6. India's next assignment is the "challenging" tour of Pakistan in January 2006
