Militant shot dead in Kashmir
Srinagar
: Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday shot dead the self-styled deputy operational chief of the Pakistan-based Harkat-ul-Mujahideen outfit and arrested his local accomplice in an encounter at Soura, near here.
The self-styled commander, identified as Mohammad Shahbaz, alias Abu Shahzad, a resident of Sialkote in Pakistan, was killed while trying to escape during a search operation at Iqbal colony area of Soura this afternoon, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, K. Rajendra Kumar told PTI. He said police laid siege to the locality on specific information. A pistol with few rounds, two hand grenades, two detonators, a satellite phone and documents were recovered from the slain militant. PTI
