Two policemen hurt in landmine explosion

Staff Reporter

SANGAREDDY: Maoists detonated three powerful landmines near Sirisingandla in Thoguta mandal of Medak district injuring a Sub-Inspector and a constable on Tuesday morning.

Thoguta Sub-inspector Rajesh, probationary SI Lingeswara Rao, constables Ramulu and Ch.Goud reached the village on two motorcycles around 11 a.m. on a routine visit and found red flags hoisted near a Martyr's memorial by Maoists. While Rajesh and Ramulu were trying to uproot the flagposts, Maoists, said to be two in number, detonated three landmines from their hideouts. The two policemen were tossed into the air by the impact of the blast. The Sub-Inspector, who himself was badly hurt, picked up the constable on his motorcycle and drove up to Sirisingandla village and lost consciousness.

The other two policemen who were away from the spot took the injured persons to Siddipet Government Hospital from where they were shifted to NIMS in Hyderabad.
