Rupee surges 32 paise

MUMBAI: Notching up another 32 paise gain, the rupee on Thursday surged to a nearly 1-1/2 month closing high of 45.41/42 a dollar, driven up by sustained strong trade and foreign institutional investment inflows amid a sliding global dollar with sentiment upbeat for further advances.

In active trading at the inter-bank foreign exchange market, the rupee resumed distinctly firm at 45.64/65 and shot up to the day's peak of 45.37/39, before settling at 45.41/42, steeply higher from Wednesday's one month closing high of 45.7350/7450. — PTI
