The Prime Minister said: ``You are an icon for all Indians and I join millions of countrymen in praying for your good health and speedy recovery.'' Dr. Singh said he came to know about Mr. Bachchan's sudden illness and the surgery that he underwent in Mumbai a few days ago, and said, "I wish you well and hope that you get well soon and resume your normal activities at the earliest.'' Mr. Amar Singh, who is also a close family friend of the Bachchans, told newspersons a guest register had been maintained in the hospital for people to express good wishes for Mr. Bachchan. ``Amitabhji has promised to personally write back to every one who has wished him luck in the guest book,'' he said.
