One more held in attack on journalists

NEW DELHI: The police on Sunday arrested another person in connection with the alleged attack on two women reporters of a Hindi TV news channel while they were on their way home in an office car near the Nizamuddin flyover in East Delhi on Friday.

The co-accused, the driver of an Indica car hired by a call centre, was arrested on Saturday.

The accused, Rambir Singh, worked as a security guard with the call centre. It is alleged that he along with the call centre's car driver, Sunil, smashed the windscreen and the window of the journalists' vehicle with an iron rod, following an altercation over some issue. The incident occurred at 11-40 p.m. when the two reporters were going towards Noida via the Nizamuddin flyover.

Three found killed

NEW DELHI: A 38-year-old woman, her teenaged son and her brother, were found murdered at her Khazuri Khas residence in North-East Delhi on Sunday. The police have launched a hunt for her brother-in-law and his friend on suspicion of their involvement.

On Sunday morning, the police received a call claiming that Reshma, her son, Babloo (17), and brother, Nasir (19), were found dead in their house. The police reached the spot and noticed froth oozing out of their mouths, suggesting that the three had consumed some poisonous substance.

However, by evening it became clear that the three had been murdered. Enquiries revealed that Reshma was earlier married to Sohanvir, from whom she had a son Babloo. She again married one Sonu, who died several months ago. On Saturday, Sonu's brother, Moti, and his friend, Rashid, came to meet her.

Reshma's sister, Hasina, who lives in the neighbourhood with her two sons, Hilal and Bilal, said Rashid prepared tea for her and others, after which they went to bed. The next morning, Hasina's sons, who had also consumed tea, complained of uneasiness and had to be taken to hospital. While Reshma, Babloo and Nasir were found dead, Moti and Rashid were missing from the scene.

As there were ligature marks on the necks of the deceased, the police suspect that after drugging them, the culprits strangled them.

The Khazuri Khas police registered a murder case late on Sunday evening and sent a team to raid Moti's house at Bawana in North-West Delhi.

Murder case solved

NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old woman, her nephew and their two other accomplices have been arrested on charges of killing the woman's husband at Adarsh Nagar in North-West Delhi this past Tuesday. The murder weapon, a country-made firearm, has also been recovered at their instance.

On November 22, the Police Control Room received a call claiming that a male body was lying at Jogi Wali Gali in Adarsh Nagar. The deceased had bullet injuries in the chest and on the back of his neck. He was identified as Yamin, who lived with his wife, Rukhsana, in Jogi Wali Gali. The police tried to trace his wife, but in vain.

On Friday, the police traced Rukhsana and her nephew Zakir to Anand Vihar Bus Terminus. During interrogation, she allegedly confessed to having murdered him in connivance with Zakir, Sunder and Surjeet. The police said Rukhsana was married to Yamin about 12 year ago and they lived at Etah in Uttar Pradesh. About three years ago, they shifted to the Capital.
