Letters to the Editor
This refers to the article, `Belgaum merger: flogging a dead horse' (Nov. 24). While there can be no two opinions on the Belgaum Municipal Corporation's jurisdiction to pass a resolution for the merger of parts of Belgaum district with Maharashtra, the Karnataka Government superseding the duly elected civic body is against the fundamental principle of democracy at the grass roots. As the author has stated, the merger issue has no popular support.
