No let -up in dengue cases

Staff Reporter

At least 12 new patients admitted to hospitals

NEW DELHI: With over a dozen dengue patients being admitted to various city hospitals on a daily basis now, the number of cases is all set to cross the 1,000-mark in the Capital. Despite tall claims of the Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi about special measures and drives to check spread of the dreaded disease, there seems no let-up in the number of cases being reported daily.

On Tuesday at least 12 new patients were admitted to hospitals taking the total number of cases to 934 -- 621 from Delhi and 316 from other States. Still 36 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the city. However, the death toll so far has remained stable at nine -- five from other States and four from Delhi. While eight new cases are from the city, one each is from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar. So far 128 patients have been brought to the Capital for treatment from Uttar Pradesh, 62 from Haryana and 122 from other States. In Delhi, the MCD area is the worst affected with 593 cases, followed by New Delhi Municipal Council with 23 cases, three from railway colonies and two from Delhi Cantonment. In MCD zones, the maximum number of cases have come from Najafgarh zone 125, followed by West 120, Central 83, Rohini 56, Karol Bagh 53, Shahdara South 35, Civil Lines 34, Shahdara North 33, South 27, Narela 12, City 9, Sadar Paharganj 6.
