Ex-Air Force personnel held

NEW DELHI: A 60-year-old former Air Force personnel, who allegedly cheated other former servicemen and those still in service by collecting money from them through a raffle draw held by an unauthorised organisation last year, has been arrested by the North-East Delhi Police.

In a case registered at Dilshad Garden police station, the Army authorities had alleged that a former Air Force personnel, Harbans Singh Issar, who claimed himself to be the secretary general of a fake organisation "National Ex-servicemen Co-ordination Committee", had taken money from a number of servicemen.

A former hawaldar, who was purportedly the president of the organisation, was earlier caught selling the raffle draw tickets in the CSD Canteen at Fort Williams in Kolkata. The sale of the raffle draw tickets had not been approved by the Government, hence a case was registered. As the organisation's headquarter was being run by H.S. Issar, the police arrested him.
