BANGALORE: Utsav Prakash and Ashwini Ponnappa emerged as champions in the Wrarhouse State-ranking badminton championship that concluded at Sadhasshivanagar Club courts here on Sunday. Utsav Prakash made a fine comeback against seasoned D. Guru Prasad and won the men's singles final in an absorbing three game contest at 13-15, 15-2,15-13 while, the State junior, Ashwini Ponnappa, outclassed Saumya Padhye 11-5,11-5 to claim the women's singles title. Guru Prasad, had the consolation of winning the men's doubles title, partnering Vineet Manuel. They beat Adip Nayak and Sashank Sastry 15-10,15-3. Ashok Raman won the men's veteran's singles title with a 17-16,15-12 win over Vinay Siddaraj. The results (all finals): Men's singles: Utsav Prakash bt D. Guru Prasad 13-15,15-2,15-13. Doubles: D. Guru Prasad & Vineet Manuel bt Adip Nayak & Sashank Sastry 15-10,15-3. Women's singles: Ashwini Ponnappa bt Saumya Padhye 11-5,11-5. Veteran's singles: Ashok Raman bt Vinay Siddaraj 17-16,15-12. Doubles (+ 45): Ramakrishna & K.P. Vasanth Kumar bt Vinay Siddaraj & S. Ravikanth 9-15,15-12,17-15. + 50: Sidney Frank & M.Srinivas bt G.Jeyaraj & S.K.B. Naidu 15-12,8-15,15-10.
