Double for Bhanu, Ajay

VIJAYAWADA: Bhanuchandra won the men's singles honours, defeating K.R.K. Murthy 9-5 in the final of the Krishna District tennis championship concluded here on Sunday.

Later, partnering K.R.K. Murthy, he also won the doubles event. G. Ajay won a grand double by winning both the under-14 and under-17 titles. The results (all finals): Men's singles: Bhanuchandra bt K.R.K Murthy 9-5. Doubles: K.R.K Murthy & Bhanuchandra bt Tirumal Rao & B. Sudhakar 10-4. Boys u-10: S. Reddy bt T. Seshasai 10-6. U-12: K. Dheeraj bt T. Seshasai 9-1. U-14: G. Ajay bt Sai Krishna 10-8. U-17: G. Ajay bt Ch. Umesh 10-4. Girls U-17: Swetha bt Swapna 10-3.

Cricket camp

District Sports Development Officer B. Sudhakar inaugurated coaching camp for the probables of Andhra Cricket Association for the disabled at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on Sunday. As many as 35 players from all over the State are attending the camp and the team for nationals would be selected at the conclusion of the camp, said association secretary U. Mohammad Shareef.

Ramya selected

K. Ramya Krishna, a student of Jai Kisan English Medium HS, Vijayawada, has been selected for the Andhra Pradesh cricket team to participate in the sub-junior nationals slated to be held at Jharkhand in the first week of December.

Murali is champion

G. Muralikrishna of Space Chess Academy won the Bobba Saraswathamma memorial chess tournament by garnering four points. T. Srikanth and V. Kiran finished second and third respectively. Champions Chess Academy director V.R. Bobba said that the second series would be held next Sunday.
