Industry logs 8.8 p.c. growth

NEW DELHI: Manufacturing boom helped the industry sector log 8.8 per cent growth in the first half of 2005-06 against 8.3 per cent in the same period last fiscal. However, decline in mining activities and electricity generation restricted the growth in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) to 7.3 per cent in September, compared to 9.8 per cent a year ago.
