ELSS eligible for Sec. 80C benefit

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Direct Taxes has clarified that investments made on or after April 1, 2005, in plans which are in accordance with the Equity Linked Savings Scheme (ELSS) 1992 or ELSS 1992 as amended in 1998 are eligible for tax benefit under Sec. 80C of the Income-tax Act, 1961.
