AOC Centre beats AC

HYDERABAD: AOC Centre edged out Artillery Centre 4-3 via sudden death in the semifinals of the Justice K. Madhava Reddy memorial hockey tournament for seniors at Begumpet Police Stadium here on Wednesday.

The teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time. In the tie-breaker, Bharath, Satya Prakash and Topno scored for AOC, while Jaswinder Singh, Ranjit Singh and Balaraj scored for Artillery. In the sudden death, Swamy netted the match-winner.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Hockey Association secretary G. Satyanarayana stated that the Super Six hockey league championship, scheduled to commence from November 13, had been postponed in view of the repairs to sprinklers system at the Police Stadium. Fresh dates will be announced later.

Paramveer shines

A good knock by Paramveer Singh (95, 15x4) helped SA Sports, Amberpet, score 246 against Nizam College in the A Division (two-day) league cricket championship match in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Easy for Warangal Circle

Warangal Circle defeated Machilipatnam 25-8, 25-13 in the quarterfinals of the 21st South-Central Zonal-level volleyball tournament here on Wednesday.

Commissioner's XI wins

Commissioner's XI scored a 43-run win over Rotary Club Sunrise (Secunderabad) in a cricket match organised by Glendale Academy on Wednesday.

The scores: Commissioner's XI 161 for eight (V.G. Srimanth 39, Sridhar four for 23) bt Rotary Club Sunrise 118 (Sarathy 31).

Sports meet

Valerian Grammar School will organise a sports meet from November 11 to 12 on its premises in Bolarum in which 14 schools from four districts will take part, according to Rev.Marampuri Joji, Archbishop of Hyderabad and chairman of HAES.

Laxman chief guest

Test cricketer V.V.S. Laxman will be the chief guest for the sports day celebrations of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya (Sainikpuri) on its premises at 3.30 p.m. on November 11. Sailaja Laxman will give away the prizes. Brig G. Ramalingam (retd), director of BSRKV, will preside.

Jaichander to lead

Jaichander will lead AP BSNL in the fifth all India BSNL inter-circle cricket tournament in Mumbai from November 14 to 21.
