NEW DELHI: To mark the National Cancer Awareness Day on November 7, the Delhi Government's Cancer Control Cell has planned a series of activities aimed at enhancing public awareness about the deadly disease. Hoping to make known the "preventive, promotive and early detection" aspect of cancer, the cell will organise magic shows and street plays on cancer awareness throughout the day. Programmes will also be organised at the community level. It is well known that one-third of the cancers can be prevented and one-third can be treated if diagnosed early. In an effort to augment the ongoing activities in the field, the Delhi Government's Department of Health and Family Welfare is organising a cancer awareness march today (Sunday) on the eve of Cancer Awareness Day. The march is scheduled to start from Rajghat at 8 a.m. and will proceed through Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Tilak Marg before terminating behind the Children's Park near India Gate. Participation is expected from various cross-sections of society including officials from various departments.
