TIRUPUR: Two prominent trade unions, the CITU and LPF, on Wednesday opposed the practice of settling accounts of hosiery workers while disbursing bonus by a section of garment factories here.
Precondition
The CITU general secretary M. Chandran and LPF leader K. Ramakrishnan said in separate statements that a section of garment units had adopted the practice of terminating the services of employees every year while disbursing Deepavali bonus. Mr. Chandran said some companies made it a precondition for the disbursement of bonus. They urged the authorities and managements to put an end to this unethical practice.
