Security arrangements for Deepavali

THENI : Elaborate security arrangements have been made to regulate traffic in the town during Deepavali festival and provide adequate security to people visiting bazaar areas for purchase.

In a release here on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police R. Dinakaran said a police outpost was set up at the entrance of Bagavathi Amman Temple Street. One police officer in the rank of sub-inspector and four constables would man the outpost. Adequate parking space was provided before the temple street. People may lodge complaints, if any, with the police officer manning the post at any time. Besides, two sub-inspectors and six constables in plainclothes would monitor prime roads during peak hours.

Besides, two sub-inspectors and two women inspectors and eight police constables would be moving in and around the town on motorcycles to prevent illegal activities. Two traffic inspectors and two law and order sub-inspectors were also deputed to regulate traffic. Road patrolling would be also conducted on Madurai, Cumbum and Periakulam highways. Dr. Dinakaran advised people not to burst crackers after 10 p.m. failing which action would be initiated against violators as per court directive. On the whole, one Deputy Superintendent of Police, three inspectors, six Sub-Inspectors, four women sub-inspectors, 36 police constables were deputed to provide adequate security to people, Dr. Dinakaran said.

Dindigul

Elaborate arrangements have been made in Dindigul to provide security to people. Cops manning the check post at the market and main road would regulate traffic. Public addressing system was also provided.
