AOC enters final

HYDERABAD: AOC Centre recorded a 5-0 win against Bharat Dynamics Ltd. in the second semifinals of the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Challenge Cup prize money football tournament at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here on Thursday.

The winner led 2-0 at the break through the efforts of Mahato (23rd minute) and Misra (25th).

In the second session, Misra made it 3-0 with a fine solo effort (37th).

Later, winger S.C. Mondal netted a brace in the 69th and 70th minutes to complete the tally.

Misra of AOC was adjudged `best player' of the match and presented a cash prize of Rs. 500.

The final between AOC and DMRL will be played on Sunday at the same venue.

Meanwhile, the organisers informed that the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Cup under-16 football tournament, scheduled to be held at Trimulgherry Village, has been shifted to the AOC Stadium in view of the soggy ground conditions.

Pranitha progresses

Ch. Pranitha defeated D. Aruna Kumari 11-6, 11-3, 11-7 in a women's singles first round match of the fifth AWASA Shyam Krishna Home State-ranking table tennis tournament at Khairtabad here.

Januja, Aziz bat well

Akbar Januja (105) helped Zinda Tilismath draw its two-day A-Division league match against Budding Stars here on Thursday.

In another tie, Mohd. Abdul Aziz (106) helped Ours CC score 229 against Mahaboobnagar on the first day.

A-Division (two-day) league: Budding Stars 169 drew with Zinda Tilismath 244 for nine (Akbar Januja 105, Faraaz Baig 52, Aashish Reddy four for 42).

Praveen triumphs
