PATNA: A spate of FIRs has been lodged in connection with violation of the model code of conduct against top politicians, including Lalu Prasad and Sharad Yadav. Mr. Prasad, RJD chief and Railway Minister, was accused of issuing a warning to officials in his speech on Monday at Bidupur under the Raghopur constituency from where his wife and the former Chief Minister, Rabri Devi, is contesting.
Vaishali district officials have objected to the JD (U) leader continuing with his speech at Bidupur even after campaigning closed on Monday .
The Vaishali authorities on Tuesday prevented Union Rural Development Minister Raghubansh Prasad Singh from entering the Raghopur constituency and asked him to leave the district. The Muzaffarpur authorities filed a case against RJD candidate Ramai Ram for using posters relating to the Gujarat riots. Authorities have booked several candidates for carrying cash. Election Commission advisor K.J. Rao has sought a report on the alleged distribution of about 6,000 red cards in the Kahalgaon constituency from where the former Speaker and State Congress chief, Sadanand Singh, is contesting.
