Letters to the Editor
The wide coverage given to the first death anniversary of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan in Moolakadu village of Kolathur, Tamil Nadu, by some sections of the media is disturbing. The speech made by some Tamil nationalist leaders on the occasion, with Veerappan's wife Muthulakshmi taking the lead, was also covered in detail. Let us not forget that such disproportionate coverage to an outlaw, hailed by some misguided elements as Robin Hood, will have a negative impact on the minds of youngsters. Veerappan was a ruthless criminal on the run. The media should give a serious thought to the content they carry.
