Letters to the Editor
This refers to the editorial "Given Uma Bharti, who needs enemies?" (Oct. 20). Having led the BJP to a thumping victory in the last elections to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Uma Bharti justly deserved the Chief Minister's job. All she expected from Babulal Gaur was to keep the chief ministerial chair warm for her when she resigned over the Hubli warrant issue. Like all politicians who have tasted power, Mr. Gaur finds it difficult now to give up the post on his own. Ms. Bharti, who is hoping to regain the leadership of the Government by fomenting dissidence, should understand that in such circumstances party leaderships prefer the organisation to individuals.
