The Indian panorama section will open with Daivanamathil (Malayalam), directed by Jayaraj, while the opening film of the non-feature section will be The Jaws of Death directed by Gautam Saikia. The jury has decided that Perumazhakkalam (Malayalam) directed by Kamal, and Iqbal (Hindi) directed by Nagesh Kukunoor will represent India in the competition section. The Indian mainstream section will have a collection of about 12 best popular feature films as recommended by the Film Federation of India while in the Indian retrospective section, a series of five to six classics by director Hrishikesh Mukherjee displaying the narrative style of film making which he worked on, will be screened. The special section, among others, will have NFA Gold featuring films that have won President's gold medal, and will feature Shyamchi Aai (1953) and Mirza Ghalib (1954). The preliminary budget for the IFFI will be Rs. 3 crores, Mr. Rodrigues said. He said a film bazaar will be set up on the premises of the IFFI between November 25 and 29 to promote Indian shooting locales, marketing Indian films abroad, promoting India as a post production hub and to enable networking opportunities. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) will coordinate the bazaar.
